Cessna 182S Skylane

More PPLs have been learned in fixed-gear Cessnas than any other aircraft type. I started out, like so many others, in a 172, but found its interior dimensions somewhat limiting. The 177 Cardinal, originally designed to take the place of the 172, offered tremendous interior room, but the retractable gear added cost and complexity, not to mention insurance overhead, which made it a tricky equation for a club.

Enter the 182. More useful load than the Cardinal, equivalent cruise speed, fixed gear. More fuel burn too, but you can’t have it all.

N7260K is a 2000 182S, outfitted with the Lycoming IO540 injected 235hp naturally aspirated engine. It’s also the lucky recipient of an all-Garmin glass panel update, including large-format navigator, G3X Touch PFD, 2xG5 backup instruments, and the GFC500 autopilot. It’s stable, fast enough, and suitable for all sorts of missions.

It’ll be formally online for club use soon, but in the meantime here’s a teaser pic or two. Reach out if you have questions.
