Flying the Hudson River Corridor
Did you know the flight from KHWY to NYC and back, to fly the Hudson River Corridor, is an easy day trip?
It’s true. Consider a flight plan like the following:
The Hudson River Corridor, entered and exited from the south.
Make your way north from KHWY, navigating the Bravo airspace as required or cleared. You end up approaching the corridor at the Verrazano Bridge (“VZ”) and, once you’re inside, so long as you stay under 1300’ you can fly alongside Manhattan while northbound, then turn around and come back down the Jersey shore, including an amazing flyby of the Statue of Liberty.
There are plenty of writeups and videos of this trip and they’re good preparation material as well. I like this one from Lightspeed Aviation.
In the club’s Cardinal, and accounting for a bit of maneuvering around big fancy airports, this is probably around a 4-hour round trip. A no brainer to give folks an amazing memorable experience.
